Request for Assistance

HomeAid Chicago is currently accepting applications for new projects. Regrettably, we cannot develop every project brought to our attention. A committee of volunteers consisting of building industry professionals and professionals knowledgeable of transitionally homeless issues develops project recommendations for our Board of Directors. The Board of Directors of HomeAid Chicago is the final authority on which projects are pursued.

The process outlined below is intended to convey needed information in the most responsible way possible. If the proposed project is not a good match to HomeAid's capabilities, we hope to learn that with a minimum of work required from the non-profit applicant. If the proposed project is good match, HomeAid will require information as it becomes necessary.

Please complete the initial questionnaire to begin the review process. Thank you again for your interest in HomeAid Chicago.

Shelter Application

After it is established that a project meets all HomeAid criteria, the Care Provider is asked to complete a Shelter Assistance Application.

Letter of Agreement

Once all initial requirements are met, a Builder Captain Company is recruited and a budget is established, the Care Provider and HomeAid Chicago will enter into this agreement. Signing of the Letter of Agreement and Exoneration Agreement, activation of commercial liability coverage, and payment of the first installment of in-kind fees marks the division between the "Pre-Commitment" phase and the "Commitment to Proceed" phase. Once this agreement is signed we are no longer exploring a project; we are all committed to do our best to make it a reality.

Exoneration Letter

This agreement is executed between the Care Provider and HomeAid Chicago. It is designed to exonerate the Builder Captain Company, all Trade Partners, all affiliates of the Building Industry Association, and all affiliates of HomeAid from any liability that arises from the construction of this HomeAid project. This form is required as it is important to volunteers to not incur liability for their volunteer activities.
